Mostly Tricks, a Few Treats

10/31/2025

It was a cold and rainy All Hallow’s Eve, when some bad, bad ghouls and goblins from San Jose, California hacked into Allie’s Microsoft Account and proceeded to send phishing emails to over 1,510 recipients!!!! Little did these monsters know that the very first person to open the email, was none other than Mike Cornell, President and CEO of Poynter’s Business Solutions, and he and his team of IT ghosties were already on the case and soon the fun and pranks would be as rotten as those carved pumpkins on your porch.

In all seriousness, a compromise is no joke, but our IT team at Poynter’s believes the breach was very small and it seemed to only affect Allie’s email to certain recipients. To those who received the odd email (or in some cases, three emails) about a “Insurance Review” please report that activity as phishing. A good way to be sure it didn’t come from Allie is that in the signature line, the Schultheis Insurance address is listed at ‘418 1/2 Third Street’ which is incorrect. If you did click on the link and/or sign in to an account through that link, we would recommend changing any passwords that may be affiliated with those accounts.

While you may have login information through your individual carrier, Schultheis’ would never request you to provide us with that information and nor would we solicit you for a review of any kind.

With that being said, if you would like to pop on over to our Google Listing and provide us with a glowing review, we would certainly appreciate it! You can do that by following this very safe and secure link here —> a real way to leave a review for Schultheis Insurance

But in the meantime, we wanted to remind our friends, clients, and business partners that our wall calendars, desk calendars, booklet calendars, pens, and mini notepads (new this year!) are all freshly stocked for you to come pay us your annual visit. This is also a good time to see Allie before her maternity leave starts and remind her that the internet is not a bad place.

Until then, enjoy this Halloween photo of Allie working as a sloth for an entire day while dealing with this hacking headache. And remember, review your account security settings (and enable multi factor authentication whenever possible!!) at least as often as you change the batteries in your smoke detectors and the filters to your furnace!!

Happy Halloween!!
